Odeeps

From my experience, Sporty Spice (after Scary) used to be the least coveted 'spice' when it came to primary school lunchtime role plays. Girls would fight and cry over Posh and Baby. There would be that one girl who would automatically assume Ginger like it was their destiny. There was always the one that would storm off and rather not play when they didn't get their way.

More after the break!

DIY: Kawaii Clear Clutch

Remember collecting stickers (from morning glory, those of you who live in Brisbane) and having them all in a sticker book you can show off? Once again, you can revisit your childhood with this super easy DIY! Duh, I know everyone of you out there are more than capable of running wild with a bunch of stickers and a clear bag of your choice. But to save you from a few oh shit, shouldn't have done that moments, here are a few handy tips!

I got my bag off etsy; they have all sorts of styles and sizes! Stickers are from anywhere from markets to department stores and stationary shops.

First off, clean your bag/surface you wish you stick the crap out of! Nothing worse than getting fluff or hair caught under your stickers and you end up having trailing strands of hair (unless that's what you want) or snapped off bits sticking out all over the place.

Collect all the stickers you want to have on your bag BEFORE you start sticking things down. I had to peel ones off to make room for the new cool 3D ones I ended up getting.

If you want some kind of symmetry for a more organised look then use a measuring tape/ruler to decide where the center of your bag is (if you have a feature sticker) or to help you divide your working space into quarters.

Home stretch! Like Purikura, the more the better, fill out every gap for that overkill kawaii look...

And you're done. Fill that up! Click here for a super cute tutorial by The Milk Club on how to style a clear bag!

Kawaii Diaries

So sorry it's been a while! I've been loosing my soul working full time for a a few weeks, saving up (and playing Borderlands). The bad news is that this will continue for a few months but the good news is that I will be moving to Japan for two whole months then heading off to Europe for a few weeks! I guess that also explains some really good deals up for grabs, and many more to come, on my blog shop!

It's so sad to have one of my best friends on the other side of the world at the moment! We recently had a kawaii going away party where everyone dressed up as harjyuku girls, geishas, sailor moons, asahi beers, gameboys or just wore chopsticks around their necks. So that's what I wore, wouldn't it be nice to be a real 'FRUITS' girl?

Anyway, the exciting thing is that I will be joining her soon at the end of March. Sushi and ramen everyday, purikura every chance we get, cute packaging, tatami mats and dress ups is only the beginning! We will be there working or Spool Collective for a whole two months to see what event we can produce by the end of it!

Anyone want to hang in Tokyo town?

Lepidoptera

silky butterfly dress etsy, dog tapestry bag from Sydney's Paddy's markets (sorry guys I did buy the pups instead of the kittens I feel like my pup would hate me if I didn't and kittys always get all the love anyways), boots off etsy, hello kitty bracelet from a vending machine

A few weeks ago, I found a butterfly sitting in the grass outside my house, it was orange and black, about the size of my palm. I prodded it with a blade of grass and it didn't move so I assumed it was dead and caught it in a tea cup. I planned to pin it into a box frame when I had the time so it stayed in the teacup for a few days in my room. On the third day it started fluttering around in the cup, so I set it free. The next day it came back and stood on our back door for the day. My grandmother always said that animals or insects that hang around are those who have once loved you,  who have passed on but miss you and come back to see you.

Above are some images from BibliOdyssey (one of my favorite sites, it's just like a cabinet of curiosities); The Royal Digital Library of Belgium has a small album of delicate and charming gouache insect sketches produced in China in the 19th century.

Super Fun Scratch

DIY nail art has got it down, especially the evidently home made jobs in all its trash, amateur splendor! Reminds me of a past super super nail salon article where fighterjetnoises, teenwitch and teeth put together html inspired numbers only digital dreams are made of. I also found some cool etsy stores that have decals and glittery nail polishes that aren't the typical vibe of misleadingly inedible Japanese dessert.

Which set are your favorite, how far would you go (to the point of getting people to pick things up for you)?

I've also  been using my time very wisely during the uni rush, putting some cute amateur iphone 4 clear cases together; on a whim and strictly for guilty pleasures, until girls were interested via my instagram. So if you would like me to make one just send me an e-mail!

6 bit

Taking my cue from yard666sale, M~E~P~U~F~W and of course satan's sweatshop, and having had way too much fun doing my power point presentation, I have formulated some 90s cyber rave outfits for my birthday shindig! Also got some pop colored disposable cameras from Big W what WHAT. Keep in mind, my Furby backpack and assorted tattoo chokers are yet to arrive :D.

So what do you guys think; sailor bubble gum sparkle floss kinder spice, velvet adorning Ribena fame wannabe, lime slime Versace extra-terrestrial brat, Mrs. Grimmace or Ms. starburst gooey center is my middle name?

Psycho-delique

The 90s cyber/punk club kid is all the 'rave' about now! Just a few slides taken from my powerpoint assignment due tomorrow. The best parts are the working gifs and how my friend Jesse's FUTURE DEAD SPACE SOUNDS fits seamlessly into it. Yeah I tried to make it SUPERFUN ;) ...success?

Now I'm in the process of getting some outfits together for my 90s super birthday bash this weekend; not sure which outfit to go with as of yet (ah too many), but I'll post some up and we'll have a vote or something. In the meantime; have a browse through my ETSY FAVES which I'm sure will get some of you excited!

To help with the authenticity of the event, I pose the Q: What are some things (music/clothing/accessories/decor) that the 90s just would not be without!?

Foil Cloud

shiny floral halter from ebay, vintage versace denim vest, crystal quartz necklace by adri, monki chord skirt, vintage chunky school shoes I live in from etsy

My brain is about to explode from being on the computer all day and watching all the Jurassic Parks (the rain makes it deliciously dramatic)! On the flip side, I found a heap of things for my birthday wishlist (or rather some things I will never own and just have the pleasure of desiring them endlessly).

1. Emma Mulholland Great White backpack $365
2. Emma Mulholland Shark Bite bodysuit $250
3. Emma Mulholland Great White jeans $330
4. Micromotor (for jewellery purposes) $179
5. Ventidue clear plastic gym bag $345
6. Nowhere Gregg Araki DVD $15
7. Mini projector $140

I have also been getting e-mails about chunky platform shoes and were to get them. Click on this, it will take you to etsy and what I usually search to get some good finds ;). If you have any etsy store suggestions, I am totally addicted and would love a visit too.

vintage floral dress, vintage boots from etsy, pony hair bag from hong kong

Woooooooo! SUMMER, or at least, Spring is here in full force. I have been buying up cute little 90's dresses off etsy and am determined to expand my chunky boot collection whilst branching out from my usual lust for solely black shoes.

What are your wardrobe aspirations for the upcoming season change?
